The very first thing that you need to do is to decide on the stain you want to use. Every stain is different because of the company that makes it and is a different color when it dries. Keep in mind that you are going to want to look at the dries color before you choose a color because it looks different wet than dry. If you can find stain that has all of the protection you need, get that stain. Some work great for extending the life of your deck in the weather but don’t do a very good job when it comes to insects.
Now that you are ready to start staining your deck, unroll a large sheet of plastic underneath and around your deck. This will protect the ground and nearby plants from the chemicals in the stain. This will not allow the stain to seep through the ground and enter your water. You want to make sure everything is protected from the stain you using so no accidents happen in the future.
