Maintaining your Roof
Many people do not realize the time that goes into taking care of your roof to make sure that the water is shedding off properly and not building up in any corners. Proper maintenance of that any roof can save the shingles that are on it by about five years. At the cost of having your oath re-shingled you’ll be able to save even more money by doing proper maintenance to your roof. When you think of proper maintenance to any household wire and you have to consider what you are going to be doing in order to make sure that it is going to prolong the life of your existing roof.
One thing that you can do is to make sure that all of the nooks and crannies are cleaned from debris to allow proper watershed in all corners of your home. If you live nearby pine trees, the needles buildup in these corners and do not allow the water to shed off properly. This could allow water to seep in through the shingles and cause damage underneath the existing roof without you’ll even know it. When water pools up, it has nowhere to go but underneath things to soak them. This is what happens to a roof when you let debris stop the water from properly running off the roof.
Another thing that you want to make sure that you check is to make sure that that the shingles are properly attached to the roof. When the wind blows it might tear off a shingle and cause more damage to the existing shingles around it. You want to make sure all of the shingles are lying down properly to prevent the wind from getting underneath and ripping them off. A simple visual inspection will tell you if you need to replace the shingles or if you need to get up on your roof to fix your existing ones.
